That is Edgar Beyn's basic electrical book. It is also very good and has one chapter on alternators. The 12 Volt Doctor’s Alternator Book is a more complete guide to the most typical alternators found on marine engines.

Thanks for that link, Gord. Good book. I like free good books. But that isn't the alternator book. It is the electrical system book. Havent gone through it yet so it might have all the info that the OP is asking for, don't know.
