Re: How did you choose your boat name?

Boats are not toys.... cars and motorcycles are not toys. You may derive enjoyment from owning and operating one... but calling a boat a toy is sending the wrong message and misses the majority of what a boat is about.

Re: How did you choose your boat name?

First boat ('67 32' Chris Craft) needed two years of hull and transom woodwork before leaving the parking lot...She was aptly name "Foolish Endeavour"

We hail from Michigan and are planning on naming our next boat (sailing Cat) "Wind Chill"...the double entendre makes me smile.

My Harley is named Gracie and is one of my favorite toys.

Your judgment aside; please excuse us if we choose to form our own definition of what "bots" represent to us

Sorry for the typo.... boats not bots...

the definition of "toy":

"A toy is an item that is generally used for children's play. Playing with toys is supposed to be an enjoyable means of training young children for life in society."

Note the reference to YOUNG CHILDREN.

trouble is too many adults never grow up...

LOL, I'll gladly accept that charge...52 and still young at heart. I'll try and stay of your lawn

Just for reference, your selected definition of "toy" varies a bit from that of Merriam Webster which includes...

: something a child plays with
: something that an adult buys or uses for enjoyment or entertainment
: something that is very small

Examples of toy in a sentence
He bought a new TV and a few other toys.
Her latest toy is a sports car.
Your car is just a toy compared to this truck.

I like "Rubber Ducky". And I like that not everything has to be so dang serious all the time! Sure, a boat is a toy! We are having fun aren't we?

Re: How did you choose your boat name?

Well according to these old USCG registration papers, she was originally named the Jamie Kile, and later named Caribbean Soul. She was purchased in 1983 for about $51k.

I found that USCG number glassed in on the inside of the port side storage bench.

Wonder if I could update that USCG number??

She was a Nurse. I worked for Snap-on tools. Named the boat "NURSE RATCHET".

Seriously. Does it get more perfect than that?
I once saw a boat with two guys who appeared to be the same as you and the boat's name was "Don't Ask, Don't Tell".

You might have to be an American to understand the significance of that a few years ago.

As for my boat's name, it was on the boat when we bought it and we liked it so it stayed.

We called our boat Vayu after the Hindu God of wind. He must be angry about this as too often we have no wind.

Apparently you've not ridden out any serious weather, ie,hurricanes (3),tropical storms (who knows the#?),and I was run over by 1 waterspout . See YouTube: Davis Island Tampa Thunderstorm on a sailboat. They can be fun,and it's definitely, for me,the journey, not the destination. I like sailing the boat. I've got a bar 80 yards from the boat. I can get a drink there,as easily as I can the Hogs Breath, on Duval St., In Key West, but I enjoy the trip, none the less. If you choose to watch the YouTube video. Let me warn you. Lotta cussing. Send the children out of the room. At first,I thought it was just a thunder storm, but by the end,you can tell I had no idea what it was. A police officer told me,later,it was a waterspout. A friend in the seaplane basin, had a knt meter, and said he registered 80 knts. Obviously, not your, run of the mill, thunder storm. If you like to 'play'with your boat, that's fine by me. Like Rubber Duck? Ok,who am I to tell you different? Understand this though. If you spend enough time on the water, sooner,or later, things are gonna go south on you. When they do,I sure don't wanna be on a Rubber Duck! Lol... I reiterate,it's your's, if it's just a fun thing for you,and you like the name,so be it. Fair winds Ducky! Lol.... I do agree on keeping it simple though, and don't wanna be yelling, Mayday ! Mayday ! This is the Rubber Duck ! Though it's bound to bring help, in a hurry. Lol...

Very important. Also, "stupid" names can be a problem. People I know named their boat "Does it Matter?"

Think about this; every time they were asked the name of the boat (bridges, marinas, etc.) they said "Does it matter?" This does not get a good reaction.
