It was years ago, and can't remember the name. We were able to use a 40' flat rack on a container ship (there's room for the overhang between the stacks of containers), and saved quite a bit. If you go
Hawaii to a US port, you may be stuck with American Flag vessels$$, but you might get a good rate to
Panama.
My main point was that you have to be on top of things to avoid huge extra charges. I got charged for 8 man DAYS of longshoremen to drop the boat in the
water in SFO, and my Kiwi friends remember getting screwed in Honolulu when they shipped in boats for the Kenwood Cup.
I'd start by searching for 'flat rack shipping for boats' and calling a few people, or talk to your local yacht brokers.
