Help! Geico is no longer writing for sailboats!!!!!

Renewed my commercial sailboat policy last month with increased liability for marina. Cost was only $11 more for the 250k to 500k for the year. I thought no problem. But..... I Received a cancellation notice yesterday. Called them and they are no longer writing commercial (endorsement for one guide). OK, how about just write for pleasure. NOPE, they are no longer writing insurance for SAILBOATS!!!! Never a claim and policy has tripled from $900 to $3000/year since BVI fiasco.

Great, now what do I do? Please help me find agents in Florida. I will still need to get an out of the water survey. Mine is 7 years olds.

Geico=Seaworthy=Boat US. Etc.

I tried Progressive but they have a limit on length and value.

Of course, they gave me 3 weeks notice. OH, BTW, I have never made a claim. I have only paid to that company. Never received. Anyone else having problems with Geico?

Most of these big name insurance companies suck, to be honest.

GEICO cancelled me late last year, but it was because I
base out of Mexico these days. You have to return to the US every 6 months apparently.

My agency insures alot of S/V's but you will be required to have an out of water survey. You really should focus on getting one completed before your policy cancels. Otherwise you will likely end up with a lapse in coverage adding to your problems.

I insure through BoatU.S. (Geico). I received my renewal this month and they reduced my value by $12,000. Called and told them I just put on $4,000 of new winches and they changed the reduction to $8,000. Boat is a 42', 1979.

So, I'm shopping around. Progressive would not insure due to the boat's age and value. I asked for their parameters and they said they won't insure if over 20 years old with value greater than $40,000.

Then called State Farm. They gave me a quote but will require an out of water survey within five years...that would cost me just over $1,000 and
my next haul-out is not due to next year, so I passed. Their coverage did not include Fuel and Other Spill Liability which Geico/BoatUS will covered for almost $997,100.

Since I expect all will require a new survey, I'll go one more year with Geico/BoatUS and do it next year during my scheduled haul-out.

Chubb insures my 37 year old 50 ft powerboat. BoatUS (Geico) declined to quote insurance for it recently.

Gents, I have a referral to a Spanish company who do insure without geographic restrictions as most US companies do now. A current survey is required. Do check them out.
FYI I am commissioned for referrals. Just want to state that up front.

Know anything about their record/reputation for paying claims?

Geico cancelled me in February. Sailing Florida found a new insurer for the fleet including our 419 Jeanneau. Cost about 25% more. Try Great America Insurance Group. Agent the HILB Group, E Greenwich, RI.
