On another note ... if anyone in australia knows or runs into Laurie Piper please reply. I met him on Ascension Island in 1972 and after 30 min of beer drinking asked if I could go with him on his 26' sloop.. His reply gave me my first word of Australian slang "sure mate, but some tucker and let's go. We sailed 2200 miles to Fortaleza Brazil, then skipped up the coast to Belem...
He was spotted several years ago and I also saw him on a rare news footage when he had rescued one of the round-the-world baloonists in the Indian Ocean ...
