Re: Hard Stand, Sydney Australia
Depends on how near to Sydney you need to be. For instance you'd find much better prices at Lake macquarie, which is a couple of hours drive away.

Reasonably priced and Sydney (I'm assuming you mean the one in Oz) are not words usually used in the same sentence.
My observation suggests that the most cost effective way to get a boat "serviced" is to accuratly work out what needs to be done, and then to find the best place to do it.
You could try the Shell Point yard at Taren Point or River Quays at Mortlake. I've used River Quays and they do what they say they will do.

Many thanks Boracay, All I'm looking for is reasonably priced H stand. The rest I will do.
PS Is it possible to tie up briefly to pick up an oyster or two at the Fish Market. I' ve shopped there many times but never with a boat.

I have not been to the fishmarkets for a few years, but you could tie up for a limited time and I think there was a fee. Just ring them and ask.
Years ago we used to tie there for a week or more in winter for free!
Regards,
Richard.

We've dinghied into the fish markets - you can anchor very close to them. There is supposed to be a charge on the use of their berths, even for a part day, and even for a dinghy, but we couldn't find who you were supposed to pay.

Very crowded on weekends, much less so during the week, and there is usually no one around then to collect the fee.
When you say "hardstand", do you mean for doing work or for storage? And, is Port Stephens too far? I can't think of the name, but there is a biggish yard up in the shallower end of the Port that was much less expensive than anywhere we found in the Sydney area when we needed to store our boat two years ago. The kicker for us was that our draft (2.2 m) meant that we could only be lifted at a pretty good high tide, and there were none available in our time frame.
Cheers,
Jim

Re: Hard Stand, Sydney Australia
Depending on your boat and agility level Jeremy at Balmain Marine Centre may be able to offer a weekend deal.

Jim, Hard only for work, Port Stephens maybe, depends on Time available.
I notice Sandy Bay, Tas. Have you run across Alan Quigley by any chance. If you have tell him we'll give Youth a run for her money next time and remind him of a jar or three in Puerto de Andraitx & Beqia.

Borcay, Balmain sound good if deals are on the agenda. Any sort of off peak is good for us. Agility may be less than it was
but best to die trying etc.

G'Day James,
Well, we have known Alan for years but have not run across him on this trip. He's usually at the big regatta in Pt Cygnet but didn't see him there. Should we encounter him we'll pass on your greetings.
But it's getting cold down here and we'll soon be north bound!
Cheers,
Jim

Re: Hard Stand, Sydney Australia
Lake Macquarie Yacht Club has one that is cheap but the limit is 9 tonne.
Then there is this place. Good location but won't be cheap.
Sydney City Marine
Maybe here
