Haha - Cheap Moorage in Puget Sound?

Preferably live aboard. Cheapest I have found close enough to work is all in Port Orchard.

And in order to make this a more functional thread, may I ask that you all post your favorite Puget Sound moorage, anchoring or marina stories, locations and prices?

And I will introduce myself too.

I am lumpia2, nice to meet you! I will likely be the proud new owner of a 1977 Frasier 30 here pretty quick. I aim to live on it and give it the care that it deserves. My brother cannot afford it and wants it to stay in the family so I am going to take it over.

Any advice for now?

I suggest that you check with Port of Poulsbo. I think that they accommodate live-aboards on "F" dock during the off season and the rates are very reasonable. I spoke with one lady living aboard a 38' sloop, that stayed on "F" dock till a perminent slip opened in long term moorage.

Anchor! There are some hardcore liveaboards in a local harbor, and they all anchor. Something like 4 or 5 guys. I know most of them personally. I live aboard, but at the dock (I am soft.)

Arn't there some harbors to anchor in on Bainbridge Island? That would be a ferry ride straight to Seattle...

I was searching on the web for moorings out there and came upon a recent crackdown of sorts having to do with the houseboat crowd and anchoring. There seemed to be the property owners against the vagabonds and the property owners were winning! But the remedy was town owned mooring fields that seemes affordable (just against the morals of the houseboat crowd). The saga was on Bainbridge. I just can't remember where...It effected cruisers and anyone staying in the area more than X number of days....

Eagle Harbor on Bainbridge Island has become rather intolerant toward moored boats.

I anchored overnight in Eagle Harbor last sumer. It was so full of boats, it was almost impossible to find a spot, and there was not a single anchor light in the whole harbor!

I have noticed anchor lights seem to be a forgotten requirement around here just about everywhere.

Not on Oh Joy they ain't. I've got a propane Coleman lamp I hang from the backstay, nice little loop there that's just perfect for it. There ain't no doubt where I'm at when I'm on the hook. If it's outta fuel, I have the big brass oil lamp...

We have spent quite a few nights ( like every single one of them ) where we and only one or two or at least way less then half out of every boat in the anchorage have them on.

I can understand it if your the boat closest to shore and have other boats already anchored out past you.. chances of getting tagged are slim...but many times we have seen the deepest anchored boats fail to post a light...and their the most vulnerable.
