Grenada - ABC's - Cartagena

We are in Grenada now and plan to leave from Grenada/St Lucia area for the ABC's and ultimately Cartagena, Columbia within the next few weeks. We would like to arrive Cartagena by early December to beat the weather hopefully. Does anyone else have similar plans and interested in buddy boating.

Re: Grenada - ABC's - Cartagena

Steve,
We are planning the same trip but a little later. We have a few more boat projects to get completed before we leave in November to go the same route. We are in Mt. Hartman Bay and are on a monohull. There is another Morgan OI here that is going with us. Stay in touch. Alibi is our boat name and the crew is Darrell, Ann, & Roxy (the Brittany Spaniel). Please stay in touch. Do you know Chez Nous - I think they are planning the same trip a little earlier but possibly not all the way to Colombia. BTW, I think I know your wife from Yoga class.....

Cheers,
Ann

Re: Grenada - ABC's - Cartagena

Hi Ann
We are still on the hard at Grenada Marine but should be back in the water this week. According to Chris Parker - best to arrive Cartagena by early Dec as the sailing from ABC's to Cartagena can be quite a challenge in poor weather. Chris advises that after early Dec, good weather windows are hard to come by. We will most likely backtrack to St Lucia (one of our favorites) to depart from, to stay further off the Venezuelan coast.
No, we are not familiar with Chez Nous and Cindy has not done the Yoga class.

Re: Grenada - ABC's - Cartagena

We are presently in Bonaire having obtained a visa extension until New Year. I look forwards to meeting you and buying you a Friday night happy hour drink at Karel's bar.

We have done the trip you plan and will be heading for Panama in early January. For us, Bonaire is by far the best of the ABC's but we are well acquainted with Curacao, Aruba and Cartagena.

We are a 55 ft dark blue sloop with a black mast.

Thanks Phil - will look forward to it. Know nothing about the ABC's so will consider your endorsement of Bonaire.
What's your experience with stops from St Lucia to Bonaire - is Los Roques safe for an overnight anchorage/rest stop ?
