Great Seamanship

Sometimes we all need an inspiring story of great seamanship. I hope you'all don't mind this (probably is the wrong forum).

Two of my former crew members, Phil and Karen Tenney, who have already circumnavigated on their Tayanna 52 Tehani-Li, just completed a 59 day passage from Panama to Australia. They were going to sell their boat in Florida, but no takers (maybe covid?) so they changed their minds, went through the canal a 2nd time and sailed Tehani-Li home, the fastest way they knew, direct, 2 handed, non-stop (almost, they put into New Cal for fuel).

I loved these guys when they crewed for me on Wings, both terrific sailors, and Phil is a great boat builder. Their reports on YIT (https://www.yit.nz/yacht/tehani-li) are fantastic reading: no You-Tube self promotion, just pure sailing on a great blue water boat. Pick up their departure on YIT on August 7, and read about their landfall on September 29.

Re: Great Seamanship

Great story. I’m sure some may be curious about their entry to Australia regarding the lock down, border closure.

Our cruising friends, currently in Grenada, have a sister ship T-52. Nice boat

Re: Great Seamanship

VERY cool, Wingsail!

Thanks for posting. It is an inspiring story and boy do we need those right about now.

And thanks also for the follow-up from their neighbour-on-kayak (and pics) and Dale! (who I hope is safely back in Auz and out of quarantine by now, please god?)

Warmly,
LittleWing77

Unfortunately they are stuck on their boat doing quarantine, while another boat that we both know entered at the same time and are free, it's an absolute disgrace. Fortunately they were put into a quarantine motel.

They are stuck in quarantine on their boat or in a motel? If a motel, probably a nice change from their boat.
