Good Yacht Broker in Miami - Ft. Lauderdale?

Hi All:

Can you recommend a good yacht broker for sail boats in the Miami - Ft Lauderdale area? Competence, professionalism and responsiveness are desirable attributes. (I know some will say that the listed attributes and the words "yacht broker" are incompatible with one another.)

Thank you in advance for your input.

I know you're in Miami but you should reach out to Joe Zammataro at Preferred Yachts in St. Petersburg, FL. He will take excellent care of you. Check preferredyachts.com.

I worked with Kevin Welch (Kevin@EdwardsYachtSales.com) and he really helped me out. He is very engaged and great at making a deal happen.

I highly recommend Yolanda Phinney. I bought an Irwin 52 thru her - she negotiated on my behalf like a "momma grizzly".

I cannot speak more highly about her knowledge, professionalism, and experience. She was liveaboard herself for quite a while. She really knows boats and her husband is a delivery captain. Quite a team.

If you're looking for a blue water cruiser, I would recommend Stan Dabney of Offshore Atlantic Yachts (email: offshoreyachts@aol.com, website: Offshore Atlantic Yachts, Inc.). Stan worked with Bob Perry on the Valiant 40 back in the '70s and has been involved with blue water cruisers ever since. He helped us buy our Tayana 42 and was great to work with - laid back, enthusiastic, and very knowledgeable. More about Stan at Offshore Atlantic Yachts, Inc..

Re: Good Yacht Broker in Miami - Ft. Lauderdale?

I worked with Nicolas Guitard of NG Yachting in Miami.
I was/am a relative novice in regard to the whole process of yacht purchase, but he walked me through the entire process, even following up after the sale had closed to make sure I was OK with the boat.
I actually walked away from a sale before closing on the boat I bought and he had no problem, despite losing the sale and commission because he realized the deal was fatally flawed.
We closed in April on my boat, and he and I are still in touch and he's told me since that he'd gladly help me in any way he could.
He's a very good guy.

Used Whiteaker Yachts in the purchase or sale of yachts 4 times. Couldn't offer higher praise than that. Contact Gary Monnell. 1-727-403-5456.

Most of the reputable brokers cover the entire state and beyond

Re: Good Yacht Broker in Miami - Ft. Lauderdale?

For what it's worth I second D DABS=Joe, Uncle= Barbara and SAILORMAN7225 = Whitaker. There are many very good brokers in Fl and a few not so good, Fl is pretty tough on bad brokers and the licensing procedure is tough. Most very good brokers have 25-35 yrs experience and will help you from A-Z including re-documenting a vessel or with a documentation if owner desires . Most will travel statewide to show you the boats, assist with water test drive, and show you how equipment and electronics work. Good luck in your quest! Also google brokers and check yelp and other reviews of brokers plus better business bureau.
