Aren't these models some of the most accurate in the past? Please lie to me and say yes. . .

My home in Lake Park Florida was built in 1955. I'm about a mile from the Palm Beach inlet. It's 1500 square feet and my insurance quote was over 6k. Down here if you have a bank mortgage you need flood, wind and homeowners. Well the flood is mandatory I think if you're east of 95?

Im in the market for a cat. I was thinking of becoming a landlord and renting but I think I'll forgo the headache of renters and sell and invest the cash.

These huge storms are a wakeup call for sure.

Peace

Good luck. Don't want to be losing any Pearsons.

I'm hoping east too.

Re: Good Grief, Cat. 5 Hurricane

All the latest show Mathew as a major hurricane tracking right up the central Bahamas, just east of the Exumas. Looks like Chicken Harbor is going to get pasted. Hope everyone has bailed out.

Re: Good Grief, Cat. 5 Hurricane

I did due diligence from Charley on. Lost my house and boat to that one.
Insurance paid out in 6 weeks on everything. FEMA put $2400 in my account to see me through till the insurance cleared. I didnt ask and really didnt need but it was there.

My thoughts and best wishes for all of you that are facing this storm. Take care and remember possessions can be replaced people cannot be.

Be safe!

mr336 - I see Lake Park is on the knuckle that juts the farthest east. Good luck and hopping the storm tracks west of Florida. I am tucked in Palm Coast in a cement block house built in 2005 with the roof tied to the cement blocks with straps. Now I am hoping the builder did not take too many shortcuts.

Re: Good Grief, Cat. 5 Hurricane

It is looking bad for the east coast of the US from Florida to Virginia. Possible landfall currently looks like Daytona, Palm Coast area.

This is the worse scenario for me...it is discission time. Stay or leave...the house is a cement block house with the roof strapped to the stucture.

There are marinas up and down the coast. Probably several thousand boats just in this area (Palm Coast) both in the water and in the hard. Daytona to Jax probably a hundred thousand boats.

Got to be ready for extreme water sports.

If you are close to the direct path........ leave.

We evacuated when hurricane Charley was forecast to hit Tampa Bay. It decided to turn at the last minute and ran into Charlotte Harbor instead. When we returned home we drove down to Punta Gorda a few days later. It was unbelievable...........
