Gone From My Sight

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.

Then someone at my side says: “ There, she is gone!”

“Gone where?”

Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear the load of living freight to her destined port.

Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at that moment when someone at my side says: “There, she is gone!” There are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: “Here she comes!”

-Henry Van Dyke

In loving memory of a dear wife, mother, best friend, and sister in Christ ;

For a Sister in Christ, death is not a tragedy, but a triumph!

In deepest sympathy, please know that we feel for you old friend.
You’ve travelled a long, difficult, and demanding road with many tribulations. I hope your doing well.
May your faith, and the words of the apostle Paul:
"If our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens". We can rejoice in our sorrow knowing our departed loved ones are now present with the Lord”
,
support you in these difficult times.

Henry van Dyke’s "Parable of Immortality" is a fitting tribute & remembrance to your dear departed wife.

Your old friend,
Gord

Nothing to say as fitting as Gord, so I will just add my own 'Amen'.

I don't think this is an appropriate place for a death notice. It was a fitting tribute and my best wishes go out to all who knew and loved your wife. She will be missed by never forgotten.

Gone From My Sight

My friends;

Thank you all for your comments.My course brought me here years ago when my wife was battling cancer.It seemed only right and proper that I return to inform my dear friends like "Gord," and others that the battle is finished. Victory has been won.
