Glass Prisms new idea on old concept

Kerry in OZ
Going back to the days of old and sailing ships one of the ways to bring light to the cabins below was the use of a glass prism.
I removed a through deck bilge pump which left a 1inch X 6inch hole in the deck the space below was quite dark and i decided to have a look at a glass prism rather than just fill the hole.
I priced them on the net both in USA and England the first problem was they were all to big and costing around $350.00 AUS Dollars in searching for glass prisms I found glass retangular Educational prisms from 3 4 & 6inches the right measurement in the US and China, the cost of these from China including free shipping was $12.00 when it arrived I glued a 10mm thick piece of flexiglass to one side to allow for the deck thickness and a further larger piece to that same side to over lap the deck I siliconed the whole thing in place using a clear silicon total cost $50.00 and it works great I'll add a video in the near future cheers guys
