Gift Ideas for Sailors
With the holidays fast approaching I'm putting together a list of gift ideas for sailors.
What would you get for your sailor friends and what would you like to receive as sailors?

I'd chill it first rather than polluting it with ice.
For the OP:
Books - always good, many different types. Fiction (Sam Llewelyn), non-fiction (How To books on boating & systems, Nigel Calder)
Boat stuff - a boat always needs something. I purchase stuff and my wife wraps it and gives it to me. This year it's a head rebuild kit. Heck, it ain't romantic, but it sure is useful.
Clothing & shoes
Do you have a nice barometer & clock on your boat?
Get a West Marine or Defender catalog and look around. They have everything related to boating you could possibly think of.
Good luck, happy holidays.

Some of the new laser 'flares', or other emergency gear.

Re: Gift Ideas for Sailors
We were just guests for a few days on friends' boat in Angra dos Reis in Brazil, and brought them Luci lights. They were a big hit.
Luci lights are solar powered, inflatable little lights, lit by LED's, that give a good bit of illumination to a cockpit at night without using a bit of battery power. There is a version that lights up in various colors that you cycle through by pushing a button. The red is terrific for a bit of light on a night watch, without blowing your night vision.
They are available through Amazon for under $20, but here is the company website to show you the versions available: https://www.mpowerd.com/ .
Another, more expensive gift is a great little waterproof backpack I bought for myself through Amazon for $100. It is actually a dry bag with good shoulder straps, and for the first time I've been completely comfortable carrying personal electronics in the dinghy.

Great items for men...

Many items suit both genders, of course, and there's plenty more...

Why do sharks need shields?

Re: Gift Ideas for Sailors
If you don't know, it would seem to be a good nautical book?
