Worth doing a search on here, there is one thread were Dockhead reports of a knockdown in a 55ft yacht.
Weather could be nice and warm but more likely wet and cold with
wind on the nose so lots of
water on the
deck. You will need a good sailing jacket, trousers and wellies plus hat.
Routing could depend on
weather but lots of harbours along both channel coasts to stop off for a break but this sounds a bit of a
delivery trip. There is a traffic separation zone which is monitored by Dover Coastguard with
Radar and they take a dim view of infringements. Professional yacht skippers have been fined for breaches.
No tides in the
Baltic, but there is a 1/4
knot current in your favour.
Wind in the Baltic are dependent on the continent. We found calm conditions in the morning which built up during the day and faded out at sunset.
Germany is an interesting country but don't drink the
beer as it does nasty things to your
head.
I will be surprised if you can do this trip in 4 days even if its 630 miles. The
canal will slow you down as will the channel tides.
Take a
camera and
record your trip.
