Ft. Lauderdale to West End

advice please on leaving Fort Lauderdale in the dark heading to West End, Bahamas. We are a slow moving catamaran and would like to arrive west end during daylight. Favorite departure anchorages or marinas? Thanks all.

Re: Ft. Lauderdale to West End

Some years ago we left from Miami at about 2:00 AM heading for West End. We arrived about 7 hours later motoring at about 6 kts. The stream makes up all of the north/south difference compared with leaving from W Palm and makes the passage the same overall time. So leave early but you don't have to leave that early.

Larkin, What is "slow moving"? Your average speed will determine when you leave and when you arrive. Without that information the answer will be only a guess. Chuck
