Re: FREE, or close to free!

Thanks. I'm not nearly ready to actually own a boat yet.

You know when you come across that perfect partner-prospect, but you and your situation just are not ready to engage in a serious relationship?

Better to focus on yourself first, get ready.

Then again when **the right one** comes along you move heaven and earth to try to make it happen.

Take the money out of the picture, all the other factors are still there, no less important.

One very important place the analogy beaks down - sometimes in love, you wait too long, miss the boat, maybe she just doesn't want you.

With actual boats, there will always be another chance coming along. . .

Re: FREE, or close to free!

Who wanted a T 27?? Not sure what the actual asking price is on this one, but she sure is pretty!

Re: FREE, or close to free!

There is no asking price, she just wants bidders to not low-ball 8-)

Sounds very nice though, I have no doubt she'll be worth more than what she ends up selling for!

And I love the 'can't be trailered' line 8-)

Re: FREE, or close to free!

Cant remember if this has been posted or not, but I think this boat could be a steal! Updated consistantly, and comes with a dingy too.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

enjoying this thread. The concept of free doesnt really apply to boats. I prefer to think of boats as having a value, which exists somewhere on a sliding scale between negative and positive amounts. Thus a 'free' boat may be more expensive than an expensive boat, a cheap boat may be better value than a 'free' boat and an expensive boat might be worth nothing at all. Interacting with boats is a 'j' curve, so a 'free' boat can have an inestimable value as a learning experience. If i didnt already have a quite nice boat to play with I'd consider applying my skills to a project like a 'free' boat to see if I had the knowledge and skills to make a good judgement.

Sure, they aren't top-tier bronze seacocks, but it looks like marelon, through-bolted with substantial backing plates that are nicely sealed, perhaps even coated with epoxy for water resistance. That's about as good a setup as I'd expect from any boat in thread like this.

Heck, I don't think some new cat or mono builders do as good a job, according to some photos I've seen passed around these forums.

They look pretty solid to me too. Maybe not real pretty, thats all.

And that H27 looks like a great deal, and a really decent boat. At that price, you aren't even paying for the yanmar 1gm, and getting the rest of the boat at no extra charge. If it were closer to home, I would buy it.

Better material for backing plates. Is that even solid wood? looks like leftover coffee table scraps.
