Re: Foul Weather Gear Advice Needed

IMO, Gill jackets look old when they are new. Zero style and low amounts of design into the fit of the jacket. HH and Musto really spend a lot of time with the fit and clean style which I like. I don't need 5 huge accessible pockets, just a waterproof barrier with a little insulation and really good gasketing. Henri Lloyd is good too.

Go with the HH.

Re: Foul Weather Gear Advice Needed

Do you cruise the North Atlantic? If so what do you wear? I'm curious, because I am planning a possible N.Atlantic crossing to Scotland from Florida, via Long Island NY. I hate heavy foul wx gear, and am having a lightweight custom wet suit with head cover made for me. An additional layer of skin, if you will, with light biking windbreaker or slickers worn over. Does that make sense? I want to be free as possible to move with complete agility and freedom of movement about the deck.

Gill has performed well for me. Wife prefers HH. I think the Gill is better sealed.

For onshore and Ice boating I use US military ECWS over Patagonia and Norwegian wool with surplus German wool pants under the ECWS pants. I like to be warm even at minus 30.
