And as mentioned by several people- its just stupid to try and judge them without their story.
I'm with you...I just cleaned up my shaft log and logged on while waiting for UPS to bring me a float switch... I look forward to RHs next post, though it will be painful to read. What a loss. Near disaster. Glad all are safe.

I grew up weekending in the Santa Cruz harbor amid the smells of the ocean and diesel fuel. My father dreamt of taking our 40ft Ocean Alexander on a trip like the family of the s/v Rebel Heart. The Baja portion at least.

We flew cross county in a single prop Beechcraft. We snorkeled in Still Water Cove. We never did make it to Baja and we did have a few scares along the way, but I have never once wished my parents had not take the "risks" with our lives and deprived us of the wonderful adventures we had.

Thank you for giving Eric and Charlotte a safe place to land when they return. You are good people.
Welcome to the forum. I lived in Santa Cruz 22 years and built 2 sailboats there. I have fond memories of Still water.

Shouldn't that be Paparyachtzzi?

Apologies if this link has already been posted. . . I try to keep up with this thread, but I'm sure I missed a page or two.
One of the more decent reads.

Re: Forum Member's Boat and Daughter in Trouble off of Mexico

This thread has over 70,000 views with over 800 posts and yet only a couple hundred supporters have stepped up to contribute $$$ to the family? I have to imagine many of those contributors are friends and family who have nothing to do with CF.

It's nice to see people say how much they support Eric and Charlotte, and I don't mean to be that guy, but these poor people just lost their home and all their dreams. Just sayin.

Great now your speculating over a past event that lead to a death.
That hole report is filled with speculation and best guess. Most of the offshore racers spend more time then they like chasing funds.
Mike was a very well rounded sailor. Knew boat systems better then most dream about. Real good guy. Let's not drag Mike into this unfortunate event. Respectfully let him have his peace.

The number of posts are most likely repeat posters as are the viewers. You don't know who all contributed, and really it isn't your business.

If it was Zeehag, it would probably crash the forum's server.

You're absolutely right. If you have bad luck down the road I will make sure to make it none of my business as well.

So, we all have had something to say. Hay we all contributed to the fund yet? It doesn't need to stop at $10,000.

What I meant is that this number seems like being nosy. It's like the old women that used to gather outside my window on Sundays. Natter natter ,

If I was in that situation I think I would be reminded of the tribulations of living ones life on the " net " , too many people peering in my windows etc

Dave

This will not happen, in the event of a rescue the Navy would not rescue " da boat kat" hence she will not allow such events. No Kat's going down with the ship.

boatys atlantic delivery thread had a similar amount of posts, and views..........and he didn't even need rescuing............

but i must say it is really great to see a group such as Cruisers Forum get together, and become a cohesive force on the net, remain positive, whilst the rest of the cyber world is baying for blood..........

so reach over your left shoulder and pat yourself on the back,
for being part of The whole, that is worth more than the sum of its parts
