Re: First weekend sailing my own boat

Congratulations! You did great. On my first trip out in my 25 foot sloop, many years ago, I hit the first day marker in the channel dead on as I sat looking at a chart and planning where I was going to sail that day instead of looking where I was going!

Re: First weekend sailing my own boat

You've done wonderful things that will stay with your family forever, fella.

It's so long since that first sail for me that your story brought it all back in vivid detail. So nice to read your tale of adventure. Don't fret over the bungled attempts at getting back into your berth. It happens to all of us and, trust me, it DOES get better with time. Be patient, you can't buy experience.

Enjoy,
David

About that anchor....haha, just kidding - it looks fine to me!
Geez - you get smiles while they're actually on-board - usually takes my family a few weeks to get over the experience before they actually start to enjoy it!

Re: First weekend sailing my own boat

Thanks guys. It was a blast we plan on going out again this weekend if I don't have to pull overtime. It only took me a few weeks to get my wife to agree to the boat. I did have to give up a few other hobbies, but it was well worth it. After going out for two days, there is a few things I ent to do. I want to replace the cleats firvthe jib sheets with some can cleats. Everything else has cam cleats but not the sheets. The only thing I regret is not having gone sailing earlier in life.
