Engine Repair in Beaufort NC

Friends are currently sailing from the Chesapeake to the BVIs but they need to divert to Beaufort NC because the Volvo engine is overheating. Anyone want to recommend a mechanic that can come to the boat? (Not sure where they will end up being docked/towed yet.)

Re: Engine Repair in Beaufort NC

Which Volvo engine and what is wrong with it?

Advice for a tech to change filters or service the heat exchanger on a smaller/sailboat engine may be very different than a complete overhaul on a larger Volvo engine in a trawler.

I SUSPECT (only SUSPECT) that the engine needs descaling. Or perhaps it is as simple as a new thermostat. It’s a 50’ sailboat with a (70hp?) inboard engine.

Re: Engine Repair in Beaufort NC

I can speak to first hand experience but I have read posts with similar themes looking for good marine work (marine mechanic, rigging replacement, hull painting) and many have referenced Bock marine about 10 miles up the ICW toward New Burn NC.
