Question Does the 1964 'Bingo' 5.5m Olympic Boat Still Exist ?

Hi

Does anyone know if McNamara's 1964 5.5 Metre boat the "Bingo" still exists?
If you know the current owner, please have them contact me or let me know where I may contact them.

Thanks for any info about the boat.

No but I have a 5.5 that was built right next to Bingo of which I have construction photos of both. Bingo was US-50, my boat Little Sister US-52.

Anyone know about the whereabouts of any 5.5's contact me:

j22buffalo"at"yahoo.com

There is talks about having 2012 5.5 worlds in Newport RI.

Best,

Joe G.

Thanks Joe,
A friend of mine picked up one of the jib sails that was on the Bingo in the 1968 Olympics. He was trying to find out if the boat still exists.

Do you know where the boats were built?

Thanks, Jimmy

there is a 5.5m world fleet database online at Welcome | 5.5mIC World Fleet Online Database

registration is required. If you want data on Bingo, don't use the sail number US-50. Rather, search on USA-050.

the 5.5m class association can be found at International 5.5 Class Association

Bingo is in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and, according to WoodenBoat #218, for sale. The classified ad can been seen on the WoodenBoats for Sale (pdf) site.

Correction to my earlier posting; the boat for sale in WoodenBoat is not USA-050 Bingo, but Lady Luck. The correct sail number of Lady Luck, and most of her history, is unknown.

Hi. Rumers says that Bingo was bought by King Olav of Norway. In Risör, a small city south of Oslo, sailers has built up a sailing evironment with many 5,5 m.
Bingo is daid to be there. Regards Jon Tvedt

McNamara wrote a great book about his sailing adventures, and Bingo is covered including what/how they did in the Olympics.

I have a copy somewhere.
