Destinations on circumnavigation

For the folks that have completed circumnavigation or are attempting one; how many destinations do you have along the way?

Just for clarification I'm thinking of a destination as a country or geographical area you visit and where you can spend some time, do some cruising etc within that area before heading to the next destination.

Re: Destinations on circumnavigation

Interesting question...

My circumnavigation was caribbean to caribbean via Panama and Suez, so here is my list that would be in your parameter of "destinations"

Caribbean
Colon, panama, San Blas islands, canal and Panama City.
South Pacific if its done in one season becomes a homogenous destination
Australia
Indonesia
Singapore/Malaysia/Thailand
Red Sea - we went straight to Egypt
Egypt - land travel
Turkey or maybe Turkey/Greek isles
Western Med.
Madeira and Canary islands.

Transits as opposed to Destinations: Thailand to Egypt via Oman, Gulf of Aden, Red Sea. Beacuase of the security problems when we went through in 2010, and a personal, lack of interest. But other cruisers find the Red Sea to be a destination.

I dont know if this helps

Read Hal Roth's book: Always a Distant Anchor
He writes about his circumnavigation and all the places he stopped. Very good reading.

Re: Destinations on circumnavigation

We're hoping to circumnavigate as long as it stays fun. We're trying to slowly make our way around the world, we figure maybe another ~5-7 years.
