Delivery skipper Australia Townsville to Brisbane

Looking for some one qualified enought for moving my boat I just bought from Townsville to Brisbane I have done a lot of sailing when I was young but then stopped for a good 25 years. Cross the Atlantic on a 20 meter sailboat, work on Superyacht, cross the meditareen in a 35 ft France to Corsica plus a lot of hobie cat sailing.I am not totally confident to take charge as such I am looking at someone who would be willing to assist me/teaching to keep up to speed in bringing the boat from Townsville to Brisbane as soon as a weather window open The boat is in good condition ready to go it has a survey of 2019.
Passport 40 Bob Perry design. 56 hp Yanmar serviced new impeller new fuel filters well looked after. Auto pilot. 400 l diesel 350 water New rigging. If intrested or know someone please let me know Cheers guys JMarc

Re: Delivery skipper Australia Townsville to Brisbane

You have more practiced skills than me.
Townsville to Brisbane 6 days (6*24) at 5knot.
But Pacific meaning peaceful meets Southern later. Peaceful way of water exchange a strong ocean to ocean passage of hot to cold water.
I'd head out to sea, use depth to encourage waters momentum and probably half that mathematics straight line time span by half. Plus she'll be well under displacement frequency at 5knots, probably faster underway.
Then Southern Ocean needs to return water gift from peaceful ocean.. LoL sheer strength at the Capes via an endless fetch.

Nice looking vessel. Can't help. Entertainment ideas.

Hello, Vaucluse,

Would you like a moderator to move your thread to the Crew Wanted section?

Townsville to Brissie means beating into it a lot. I was just looking at sailing my Roberts45 from Sydney to Cairns in the next few weeks, which would be somewhat easier. But I've got some spare time right now, so let me know if you're interested.

Given your "screen name" don't you want to bring the boat back to Sydney?

Why not sail from Townsville (wife's home town) to the Whitsundays & potter around there for a few days. Would be a shame to blow straight past there on route to Brisbane. To an Englishman, the weather there in your winter is about perfect - shorts & T shirts.

You really don't need a skipper. Crew maybe. Done this trip many times, bit tedious if the trades are blowing. Otherwise a Milk run. Full up with diesel, blesses the auto helm, and

I’d be quite keen to join you, to get back on the water after selling my Catalina 42 a few yrs ago. I’m in WA and have an endoscopy appt on 6 July, free after that. Lots of lovely spots on the way down to wait out strong head winds.

Hi Vaucluse

I would suggest you contact Geoff Tapper at 0481 103 351. Geoff helped me get my boat from Adelaide to Lake Macquarie and I have just helped him with a delivery from New Zealand to Australia. He is well qualified and keen to teach as part of the service. I think he is currently in Coffs Harbour.
