Deliver boat from Europe to Vancouver canada
Hi
I want to buy a used 40 to 44ft cat from Europe and sail it back to Vancouver.
But I dun have enough experience to do it myself. I want to sail these long journey, so I can start my round the world journey. And I know from Panama to Vancouver is not too good of a direct route.
Also how long it will take to refit it. (just guess)
Any suggestions?

refitting time depends on what shape the boat is in now. The route is canaries, carribean, canla, hawaii, vancouver
very long haul for someone low on experience although you will gain a lot on the way

Re: Deliver boat from Europe to Vancouver canada
Thanks. But I am thinking to hire a captain to do it with me.

To hire a captain for a trip of the length would cost way more than you could possibly save buying a boat in Europe.
Would be much cheaper to buy a boat closer to home.

You might consider having it delivered by one of the ship-board delivery vessels. Insured & near zero wear & tear. Even if you only get it to SF & sail up the coast.

Re: Deliver boat from Europe to Vancouver canada
I don't see how the trip could possibly make any sense. For the cost of the delivery, surely you could get a comparable boat already on the west Coast of Canada or the States. Even if you're budget is massive (which it must be if you're considering this), logistically it sounds really impractical.

I didn't read where he is trying to save money. Maybe he wants the experience and is willing to pay for it. It would be cheaper to gain the experience on someone else's boat as crew though. Agree with the other posters that it would cost loads more than a local cat.

Sevenstars can get it to Victoria. You do not want to sail up that coast.

Even a cheap skipper will cost you minimum $250 per day. Such a trip will take somewhere around say 14-18 weeks? at say $2000 per week - total 35-40 grand just for the skipper
