Re: Danish Crew Freed!

Question. Can you get insurance against the event you're kidnapped by pirates? Are there insurance companies that will pay out a ransom and how do they govern how much?

Re: Danish Crew Freed!

The website SomaliReport.com said Wednesday it had been told by a pirate source that the seven Danes had been put on a small boat at 8 a.m. local time, and that the source believed a $3 million US ransom had been paid. None of this could be confirmed, it said.

Re: Danish Crew Freed!

Insurance companies do pay out ransoms for captured ships. It has increased the premiums that carriers pay.

More like Danish Crew buys their freedom. Handing over your wallet to someone with a gun to your head is not a cause for celebration.

Going home to my family vs dying in some Somali $h*thole would be a cause for celebration in my book...regardless of my wallet status.

This is not a JUDGEMENT--just a passing thought.
Its good if you have the ability to raise $3 million

Very interesting (and disturbing) responses from some.

Seems to me that it can only be considered good news that this family (with their children) are now

FREE

vs.

dead or still in captivity...

(...even if they might be evil rich people.)

Great to see they are free.
When are the good guys going to get serious and send a few big bombs to take care of the pirates?
