Cruising: The Good, the Bad and the Beautiful

My boyfriend and I have been cruising for four months now, sailing across the Gulf of Mexico, down the Yucatan, through the Gulf of Honduras and finally to Panama. And from this experience, we have some thoughts on cruising that you guys might find interesting - from the fantastic to the not so much.

Cruising: The Good
Cruising: The Bad
Cruising: The Beautiful

It has been an incredible experience for us, despite any not so nice parts, and worth every minute and every penny. Fair winds!

We did just what you're doing, and attempted to keep the same $1000 a month budget, at the same age, from the same state!!! We're back in Texas now, a little earlier than had been anticipated.
Hope you enjoy Panama!!!

Sailmonkey, we are like ships in the night! Hope you're having a not too hot time in Texas. Panama is pretty darn sweet.

I enjoyed sweating more in Guatemala than I like sweating in Texas......but we came back to rebuild the cruising kitty.

Alas, we are going to have to do that cruising kitty thing too, but until then we will keep sweating in Bocas.

Hey, Tom! I was just thinking about you because Vlad has been putting in the watermaker for the past two days. He should get in on Monday of next week and will be in Kemah on Wednesday. A trip to West Marine is in order, no doubt.

OK. Let me know if he still needs a place to crash. Hope the water maker gets working.

Re: Cruising: The Good, the Bad and the Beautiful

Good blog for potential cruisers -- the realities of life as a cruising couple. It ain't all milk and honey, but it certainly has it's rewards.

Also, it would be good for shore side friends and family of cruisers too who tend think you are either insane or on permanent vacation. Reality of course is somewhere in between.

Thanks, denverd0n and belizesailor! I have a good time writing it. And while cruising is not all rainbows and sunshine, ninety-nine percent of the time you just can't beat it.
