Cruising into NZ- what food are we allowed?

Hey guys
We are cruising to NZ early November from Oz. I cannot get a definitive list from customs as to what foodstuffs that we are allowed to have onboard that won't be confiscated.
I know we can't take in fresh fruit and veg, but what dried goods are we allowed? I have a huge store of dried spices , but when we moved from Uk to NZ to live back in 2001, we had to get rid of them all.

I'd love to hear from folks that have entered NZ recently as to what they were allowed to keep and what they had to bin.

Based on a 2014 arrival from Tonga and points east.... meat, dairy, fruit, veg and especially honey were a no no... the only other thing of note was any egg products including mayo...

Forewarned all we lost was some mayo....

They showed no interest in our spices... we just had the standard spice rack full of stuff.

Spices seem to be ok (but declare them) up to 1 Kg.

Any food – cooked, uncooked, fresh, preserved, packaged or dried.
Animals or animal products – including meat, dairy products, fish, honey, bee products, eggs, feathers, shells, raw wool, skins, bones or insects.
Plants or plant products – fruit, flowers, seeds, bulbs, wood, bark, leaves, nuts, vegetables, parts of plants, fungi, cane, bamboo or straw, including for religious offerings or medicinal use.
Other biosecurity risk items, including – animal medicines, biological cultures, organisms, soil or water.
Equipment used with animals, plants or water, including for gardening, beekeeping, fishing, water sport or diving activities.
Items that have been used for outdoor or farming activities, including any footwear, tents, camping, hunting, hiking, golf or sports equipment.

Glad to hear about the spices. Yes , I have this list but it is not very clear. For instance , when flying into akl in the past , I have declared and been allowed dried and packaged food items, such as muesli bars and cereal . (In sealed,unopened packets )

Thanks for replying. I'm assuming canned goods were ok? What about pasta and rice?

Just one more thing, if you have woven goods from Tonga, or carved items, bag them after you leave, and spray them with insecticide. Make a note and fix it to the bag, with the contents and date. Generally the inspector will examine them, and allow you to keep them.

No problems with pasta or rice....

We had no tinned meat or fish but all the tinned food we did have was OK.

We were told by the nice lady at Marsden Cove that anything from Oz, EU, N America, Chile and some other places was fine.

We arrived 'out of season' when things were quiet... she did say that when they had extra staff bused in from Auckland etc they were sometimes rather over zealous.

Coming in by air you have to declare

and advise if you have been on a farm in the last month or so....

Its a good way to get your boots cleaned up

You can bring dive gear in . We lived in NZ for 10 years and took a lot of overseas dive trips in that time . We used to tick the box , customs would ask about it and then wave us through.

You can have all of it. Some of it, and this goes for other goods, may be required to stay on board for the duration of your stay.

Clean everything before arriving and declare everything on arrival.

Not a good plan to fib about the being on a farm bit. My last trip, I had bleached my boots before my return, but got a random customs search. Had my tool belt and fencing tools in my luggage. Lost my favorite boots and tool belt. I suppose it could have been worse, as I still have a valid passport.
