It seems a bit of a stretch to label someone from Canada as being American which implies USA.

In the unlikely event that amplification beyond Canadian is necessary then North American, although a bit contrived, would be more geographically appropriate.

Re: Cruiser killed in Grenada

How about we don't make this a gun thread?

Guns have nothing to do with this topic.

Those interested may start their own gun thread which, as always, will rapidly go nowhere.

It was a feeble attempt at a troll after the poster made an unwarranted assumption. On the other hand, the Canadian government has increased funding to geologists in an attempt to find any sort of fault along the 49th parallel that could provide a greater separation.

American is appropriate, Canada geographically makes up a large part of North AMERICA.

I’m a Canadian citizen who lives in the USA and consider myself to be an American... you do as you see fit.

If you were to ask a Mexican, he/she would likely tell you that they are American too. And so with Central and South Americans. The label "North American" has been used there to mean US and Canada, for many decades.

Yes, throughout Latin America, "Norte Americano" is considered more polite than "Gringo", but "Gringo" typically specifically means a USA.

That was meant as a reply to CarinaPDX's #97 post.
