I've been thinking about signing up as a patron for BoatworksToday.
He's not sailing around the tropics having fun, he's working in a boatyard producing videos on how to fix fiberglass:

Haha, thanks Jdege, I was literally just looking this one up to check it out. By no means have I done an exhaustive search of the vloggers out there, and I realize much of it comes down to personal preference. I'm guessing boatworks will have a lot to offer me and if I benefit from the videos I'll contribute. I've only recently purchased a sailboat and have yet to do any major maintenance on her, but I know that is inevitable. I've spent two Canadian winters watching Delos videos, part of the inspiration leading to purchasing a boat, but now the real work begins. I enjoy Delos partly for them showing some of the maintenance they do, and also enjoyed the early videos of WhiteSpotPirates because of the 'not so pretty' picture portrayed of boat ownership.

Hey Scotian my wife and I are currently cruising the Abacos and it never occurred to us to ask someone else to pay for it. What a great idea!
Please e-transfer your contribution to reduce "my burden".

"Reduce the burden on me"....oh, that's just so sad. Sad that you might not be kidding us, but may actually think that way.

Ok, you had a rough start walking into a group of really self reliant, independent people and asking for advice on "freeloading" as we see it.
There are actual ways to do this and "reduce your burden."
1. Volunteer- Volunteer crew on boats and get experience. You can do this with little or no money often.
2. Pay to ride- There are often "sharing" posts where you can put your money in the pot and see how far all of you can get together. Quite risky in my opinion, but I have seen it done.
3. Will work for food- get in touch with captains and owners and work your ass off for rides.
4. save enough to buy a cheaper small boat (as said above quit paying rent) and get others to join you, each paying their part in labor and expenses.

Considering your experience and the excellent suggestion from Tkeeth,
Send me money OR ELSE, I'm posting photos of me in a speedo. A very small speedo!
