Left Sat night at 9pm, arrived Bimini Sun 930am. Buddy boated on VHF with a trawler that left about a half hour later. It was somewhat rolly with the NW winds/seas aft but not harshly so. I'd give it a 5 or 6 on scale of 10. Seas a bit sloppy but only about 3 feet. A decent window. Best, Joe

Capt Joe,

Decided to wait here until Thursday. Am now using Chris Parker's excellent weather service and he (currently) gives Thursday as the best day this week with winds picking up again after that - so that's our current target.

Winds here at Dinner Key were quire strong last night despite the protection, so I'm glad I wasn't out last night.

Anyone else crossing in that time frame ?

Out of interest, are you in a marina at Bimini and if so, which one ?

Duncan,
I'm at Blue Waters Marina on North Bimini. Very nice marina in Alice Town. Tricky to get into N. Bimini using Maptech charts but may be a tad easier if you have Explorer charts. Keep the small green #7 bouy to port and then make your way using the right side dark reef waters as a guide to the channel. From the entrance buoys, I waved down a power boat who led me in. I expect to move on Wednesday.
Best, Joe

Sorry this is late Joe, you're already in the Bahamas I suspect.
For anyone else planning a Gulf Stream crossing, refer to my website:
