courtesy flags in Canary Islands and Caribbean

I have Spain and Canary island flags but wonder if I also need to get the flag for each canary island. I thought it would be good enough to hoist the Spain/Canary Islands courtesy flags.

Do you buy most of the flags for Caribbean?

For the Canaries The Spanish flag works

For the Caribbean buy or make the flags for each country and fly them from the Starboard rigging, higher than any other flag in every country you visit otherwise you are not showing respect, that is why it is called a courtesy flag

Thanks! Any recommended book/kits to make the Caribbean flags as they are quiet expensive. But I am not sure if it is easy to make them.

Cheapest I found was go down the local market and hunt out a bandana of the local flag and use that, sometimes a little bit of hand stitching was needed.

Google "world flag book" and take your pick

Re: courtesy flags in Canary Islands and Caribbean

I live in Canary Islands. I speak Spanish. There is no 'Canary Islands courtesy flag'.

There is a Canary Islands local colours flag (vertical white yellow blue) but it is NOT a courtesy flag.

We are not Catalan. We are not nationalists. We do not wave flags too much.

Bring plain small Spanish flag and fly it from the correct spreader and that's that. If you want to be super courteous, you may fly canary colours UNDER the Spanish courtesy flag, in the right place.

Canary people are not too much into flag waving. This is not Catalunya nor the Basque country or Brittany.

You can as well come without any courtesy flag, just be honest and kind to people and this is what counts here.

Saludos,
barnakiel

I want to go as crew from Canary to Caribbean, Bahamas, Florida. Let me know if somebody wants to do such ride.
