Coastguard documentation trasnfer without waiting 6 months
I know there are services which can get this process taken care of in a few days as opposed to the standard 6 months...
Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced person who specializes in getting this done?

You can get a letter of having filed your documents in a few days/weeks.

Re: Coastguard documentation trasnfer without waiting 6 months
I filed a long time ago. We've been waiting forever for them to get back to us.
Initially after several months they sent us a letter stating we underpaid by $8. I just got an email from them saying we underpaid by $8 many months after sending them $8.
I've heard of services who can rush the process and I'm annoyed with the waiting.

In May, they reinstituted issuing "Temporary Letters of Documentation" (TLOD) which are good for up to a year, or until you receive your official documentation.
My agent sent in my forms on May 16, the USCG acknowledged receipt (online status check) on 5/26 and I received the TLOD today, so they have apparently worked through the initial backlog. It looks all nice and official-ish.

Bailey49 is Marine Titles a Canadian company? I'm waiting for my letter of deletion from USCG documentation and will ultimately flag in Canada.

I have had good luck calling them directly. Granted it took a few calls before getting to someone who was very helpful but worth the effort.
Good luck

Re: Coastguard documentation trasnfer without waiting 6 months
So very odd to read your post. A friend in the Marina here in NW Washington has the same story down to the $8 shortage. He is ready to go sailing, and since almost everything we do here involves crossing and recrossing the Canadian/US border he can't leave without the documentation being solid. He's been waiting since January, I think. I will walk over to his boat today to see if he's resolved this problem.
If the picture of your boat wasn't so very different from his boat, I would think it was he posting. Will try to get you some info today.

I remember the $8 fee (a few times) and many other fees as well. You have to read carefully. I sent the fee upfront and it saved me a lot of time.

The NVDC is very helpful and its worth a call before submitting your request to be sure you have all the forms and the payment correct. I find it much easier to pay by credit card. Then, you can email the forms and payment to one address. It still takes from several weeks to a few months. They only answer the phone between 9-3 and not on Thursdays, I believe.

Re: Coastguard documentation trasnfer without waiting 6 months
Usually you can CALL the USCG NVDC offices directly, and they will tell you exactly what can or can't be done, and exactly which forms to send them. There are no magic services that can expedite anything beyond the options that the VDS can give you directly.

From the their web site it appears Marine Titles is a U.S. Company.
We bought a U.S. Documented vessel and used Saxton in Ft Lauderdale ( Home Page) to handle the delisting and Canadian documentation with Transport Canada. We were very happy with the service and price. It took about 3 weeks in all, during that time we sat in a slip. After that we needed to get our cruising permit and were then on our way.
Good luck, Bob

Re: Coastguard documentation trasnfer without waiting 6 months
I finally found a very nice lady (after many calls, letters & fees) who took pity on me and saved me a lot of time. I thank her for that. It was important to me.
