Im new to sailing, but not boating and have no idea how a 1997 chrysler 22's boom goes in the mast and stays vertical. Can someone post pictures or diagrams of it without sail and with sail on boom. Im Stumped!

Re: chrysler 22 boom help!!!!

The Boom slides in the groove where the sale goes. The foot of the sail then goes in the groove on the top of the Boom. When you raise your Mainsail it is the leach tension that keeps the boom horizontal.

Re: chrysler 22 boom help!!!!

The fastening of the boom to the mast should be fairly self-evident if you have all the hardware...usually a clevis pin.

As far as holding the boom up, there may be a topping lift, which is a dedicated line or wire that goes from the boom end up to the top of the mast, around a pulley (sheave), and back down the mast to deck level where you can adjust it and cleat it off. Or, the main halyard may serve as a topping lift to keep the boom level when the main sail is not hoisted.

There is a good deal of information on Chrysler sailboats available at
http://www.captainscottsailing.com/p...lerDocList.php.

C22_manual11.gif may be what you are looking for.

Cheers
