We share a pier end with a Lagoon 41. They are out there for the same reason we are, room and deep water. They don't need the deep water but want it just the same, they don't need the 75 foot of dock but want that also. I've asked Paul about why he does not go into a smaller end dock that is considerably less expensive and he said he likes it out there and is willing to pay for the dock. Go figure but they are great dock mates and I'm very happy to share the pier with them.

Regarding the original question, many marinas charge by the cube (length, width, depth) but our area does not. If the marina is primarily mono then dredging will be a necessity to keep the marina operating at a profit or break even. No water, no dock receipts, no marina.
