I would second this. My wife and I have stayed at Scrub Island three times. The resort owns the entire island. You can rent a boat from Moorings (or others) in Road Harbor, Tortolla which is a free ferry ride and a 30 minute cab drive. The resort has a large marina and being in the BVIs, you have your choice of a multitude of islands within 3-4 hours of sailing.

More restaurants, shops, tours and excursions both on and off of the water.
I agree there is nothing to do on the island other than the resort, but it is a very nice resort with pools, hot tub, store, scuba, etc. St. John is very nice as well, but it is on the US side making trips to virtually any other island more complex as you will need to clear US customs, clear into BVI, and then clear back in to the US.

Better book Scrub Island now if you want February. They fill up very quickly! BTW, the fee to keep your boat in the marina is very reasonable and will give you access to showers, the pool and other amenities.

Check out Belize, Hopkins/Placencia areas are good. For the sailing look at www.thecatsmeowtours.com we can also point you in the direction of resorts in the area. There's lots to do from this location. Sailing, standup paddle boarding, diving, snorkeling, fishing, ruins, horseback riding, zip lines you name it.

We would like to go sailing to Caribbean in February for a week. The problem is that some in our group want to go sailing while some prefer to stay ashore. So I am looking for a place with the following conditions:

1. Nice resort by the beach (that is the easy part
2. A few interesting small islands within 3-4 hours of sailing so we can do day trips returning by night
3. An anchorage or mooring not far from the resort.
4. An island where I could charter a sailboat

Any ideas where I could find such place? St. Marten satisfies all conditions (trips to St.Barts and Anguila) but it would be expensive as each of those islands is in a different country.

If there is a better site or forum to ask this question, please, point me to it.
