carbon fiber shrouds and forestay

I am purchasing a Conser 47 and it has carbon fiber Aramid shrouds and forestay with a rotating carbon fiber mast. Does anyone have experience with this type of rigging as to when it should be replaced etc. The two shrouds have tensioners that pull the shrouds forward from a point about 4 feet from the deck....any idea whether this could damage the carbon fiber?

Many thanks

Maybe contact Southern Spars (my nephew works there) or Navtec. They both are leaders in the field.

It's more for racing. This is a cruising site. Not saying you can't ask the question here, but I am saying that I doubt you will get a lot of replies. Contacting any of the above would be your best bet. Apart from that, these synth fibre lines have a limited life. Less than SST. But the racing guys tend to change the rigs over far earlier than the lines life expectancy. When they have mega dollars tied up in the mast, the rig becomes a small cost of insuring the mast stays where it is supposed to.

I am going to try this rigging, and am waiting for delivery of the last bits. Mu stainless needed replacing.

One of the world leaders in this kind of rigging is precourt systems in Canada.

Precourt Systems - Internationally recognized for our synthetic rigging systems

They can probably help you out on lifetime expectancy etc. If it is UV protetcted it's apparently not too bad.

Let us know what they say please.

Regards

Alan
