Carbon Cat Dinghy

Stumbled upon this. I wouldn't call it ultra-light like they do. Looks to be a worthy hard dinghy option.

No financial interest.

Definitely not ultralight. Carbon is just a marketing strategy I think. Weighs 10lbs more than my west marine dinghy of the same length.

Probably a lot better built, but not light

Other than the $10K price tag?

Re: Carbon Cat Dinghy

That hull shape looks like it would probably be pretty stable and carry weight well, but is also likely to ride like absolute crap in a chop. Weight-wise, it's not super light by any means. That probably means it's pretty sturdy. And fiberglass instead of carbon would likely have added another 10 - 15 lbs.

Re: Carbon Cat Dinghy

Devil is in the details of design of the tunnel type hulls. The old designs bounded badly in waves.

We have a 12' inflatable cat and will agree much less hp is needed to get up on plane. Handles chop better also.
