Life time
small boat sailor
shopping for first small cruiser (26-30') and a criteria is being able to sail it back and forth to places like Block Island from CT and RI shore.
Wondering if
Capri 26 with shoal
draft wing
keel (and inboard diesel) is sufficiently
seaworthy to sail that far
offshore at least somewhat comfortably and certainly safely.
It's a short enough trip and my schedule flexible enough that I can fair-weather sail - but don't want to have a narrow
weather window profile or be fearful of facing typical day variation in
wind strength and sea conditions.
If at all useful, an alternative might be something like the ubiquitous
Catalina 30.
Particularly appreciate input from sailors making this trip in 30' and under boats and/or those with
Capri 26 experience.
Thanks!
