I got a late start this year but moved the boat from Solomons, Maryland to Pamlico sound in November. Then just last week started from Pamlico sound and went on the outside and inlet hopped my way down to Florida one day at a time with only one overnight hop. Not a fun trip but doable. I admit I have a pilot house and a diesel heater so it wasn't too bad but the seas were a bit rough.
I stayed about 3 to 5 miles offshore and was lucky enough to have the wind at my back most of the trip.
I did it single-handedly with no crew, so it can be done.

Re: Can a northern boat be moved now?

It probably would have helped if you had mentioned the type and size of the boat. And your level of experience and discomfort level. I would think that if you have to ask, the answer (for you) is "No".
