Exactly. None of the
boat builders makes their own
cables. Just like the engines, the
builder buys them from a company that specializes like Teleflex-Morse.
As Cheechako says, measure the cable that's in there and order a Teleflex replacement from Defender or your local boat supply store.
You should also check the bracket and fittings on the ends of the cable and order
replacements for those at the same time if the old ones look worn at all.
If you are uncertain of the details of the exact cable you need you can find pictures and information on the various models online. The main difference between different versions of the Teleflex
cables are size and a more expensive cable that will take a tighter bend for installations that have routing issues. For your boat I'm sure the smaller size will be the one.
