Do you know if they make the
sails they sell? Not sure if that matters.
I had a new jenny made by UK
Sails in City Island NY, after they ruined my old sail they tried to
repair.
The new sail was a nitemare. the way it was cut the
boat wouldn't point worth a damn. I had them recut it before I left for points south and it still sucked. After it was recut 3 more times by different lofts, it was a good sail.
On the other side of the coin, I bought an imported main sail from Lee sails, and it was perfect out of the bag.
I'm sure my experience was a rare experience, but never the less it happened.
Another thing that happened was when I picked up the sail, I looked at the
fabric, and asked a worker what weight it was. I had specified a heavier weight cloth. When I told the owner about it, he said basically, take it or leave it, but they aren't making me a new sail. We are giving you asail for half
price, blah, blah, blah. Yeah, but you admitted you ruined my old sail. Anyhow, it was getting cold and I needed to
head south, so I took it. Then the recutting over the next year started.
Thank God I don't need a new sail any time soon!
