Well as i think it's a good idea i better put my details up. 43ft fastback 2 queen size cabins, 1 almost double cabin. Currently in Hobart . Could be Anywhere on east coast of oz next year.

There a lots of naysayers on this topic and very few who have any experience. The admiral , 2 crew and myself fall squarely into the been there done that category and it was great.
After a reasonable amount of emails and a few phone calls both parties were satisfied in each other’s capabilities and experience so off we went. Flew to the UK and spent 5 days sailing the Solent And had a blast. No damage or even close calls but a little stressful at first till we got used to the traffic. Cleaned the boat and left a bottle of wine for the owner All good.
A few months later they flew to Canada and enjoyed our boat on the East coast for 5 days venturing to numerous bays including an overnight in historic Lunenburg Nova Scotia. Boat was clean and a bottle of wine on the table when they left.
I get the concerns and recognize the risks involved but most of us have a reasonable tolerance for calculated risks otherwise we’d be watching sailboats leaving the harbour instead of sailing them ourselves.

I have tried that website and it comes up as not in use.
Me and my friend have a 43’ Beneteau and a 44.7 Beneteau which cruise the west coast of Europe and North Africa including the canaries and Azores/Maderia.
We want to go to the South Pacific islands with Tahiti as the must do.
We are both offshore sailors qualified with thousands of miles done. Our family commitments mean we don’t want to be gone for the year or 2 it would take to do the trip to and from in our own boats.
We both like the concept of the skipper staying on board with his local knowledge but are open to any concepts. PM if any interest. Thanks. JH

Where the idea typically falls apart is being legal and insured.
- If you stay aboard acting as captain, you must be licensed in the country as such.
- Your insurance will want to charge you significantly more.

Some people fly under the radar and as long as nothing goes wrong, it works. Someone random stranger trips and injures themselves good luck getting them to lie to the insurance company about if they were friends vs paying customers.
