Ive owned 2 sloops, one cat but no tris. My answer is that it depends more on how you rig it than the design of the boat. Get the boat in your budget that meets your spacial needs and rig it for single or short handling. The debate over which is BEST can go on forever.

If people are on the west coast of Florida where do they go in Hurricane season?
It seems to be getting worse and I was born here in Florida.
Do people head south and you would have to go way south looks like it.
Going on land storage doesn't seem to help either?

Doesn't seem to be place to hide on the Gulf side. I would not stay in a Marina
during a hurricaine. Would do a liveaboard if I could figure this out on a nice trimaran which solves the shallow water problem. Fold up riggers for marinas you visit.
