Best place to purchase marine supplies in Malaysia mm (Panglor or Langkawi)

I am new to Malaysian cruising so need help as I need to do a lot of upgrades on my boat that is located in Panglor Malaysia and I will need to purchase a lot of items for it, batteries, ground tackle, electronics and am looking for recommendations for shops / chandlers in both of these areas that have good prices and carry stock. As well is anyone ordering from Port Supply / West Marine given that both of these ports are duty free.

Both places have lots of basic boat stuff, langkawi perhaps has more boat specific stuff. Ask the office in Pangkor for their list of vendors in the area. What you can't find locally you can get shipped in.

Also, join the Sail SE Asia facebook group. Very active with a wealth of information about the region.

It's been a few years since we were in that area, but we found we could get pretty much whatever we needed in Langkawi. Having things shipped in was easy and it is duty free.

Agree with both the above posts but for more sophisticated parts and electronics Marintech in Singapore.

For more industrial stuff, hydraulics, refrigeration, engine parts etc - Sitiawan (near Pangkor) is hard to beat.

Thanks for the replies. Any suggestions for Yanmar engine and saildrive parts in Malaysia? So far the Yanmar dealer is quoting 6 months to get parts for a 3GM30.

Have you tried the regional HQ in Singapore?

When I contacted Yanmar Singapore they asked where the boat was and immediately passed the request on to Malaysia.
