Baltic Sea Pearls and Diamonds?

Next week we're off to our final summer sailing trip with our current boat and I'm surfing the internets and the googles for some ideas about where to go..

So, all you fellow sailors who have been sailing here: what is your list of "must see" in the Baltic Sea?

Re: Baltic Sea Pearls and Diamonds?

Also interesting for us, as we’re preparing to do a one-month shakedown cruise there this August.

If you end up in the Finnish archipelago, Utö is a nice pit stop with a small marina, lighthouse museum, and nice guest sauna. Rosala is also fun with the Viking museum.

On the German coast I’d recommend sailing around the island of Rügen and stopping the in the hanseatic town of Stralsund.

Thank you!

And we're actually starting from the Finnish archipelago (home harbor right next to it!)

Here are a couple of places from my list:

- Jurmo (right next to Utö, quite a special place!)

- The Finnish Archipelago Sea in general (within which also Utö and Jurmo are)

=> online link to guest harbors (seems to be down atm, but should work): https://www.vierassatamat.fi/en
=> this is a quite popular harbor book series: https://scandinavianoutdoor.fi/parti...urun-saaristo/

- The Åland archipelago, including Mariehamn (we like the east harbor)

=> the harbor book series above has at least one book about Åland

- Stockholm city and the Stockholm archipelago.

There's a great book series called "Hamnguiden" with A LOT of Swedish, Danish, Norwegian harbors, marinas, anchorages etc, and great pictures and approach info: #8 for example https://www.bookharbour.com/hamnguid...holma-landsort

Fortunately, they have an online service as well, so by paying about USD 7/month for the subscription you get everything in digital format: https://www.harbourguide.com/en/

- Visby, Gotland
- Rønne, Bornholm
- Tallinn, Estonia
- Klaipėda, Lithuania

Re: Baltic Sea Pearls and Diamonds?

And oh yes, of course, I think everyone certainly should come to magical Turku!

https://www.turunvierasvenesatama.fi/en/

We're a daysail away from the central Archipelago Sea, and if you'll show up, let me know and I'll buy you a beer (or coffee/tea/wine, according to your preferences)!

We were supposed to have the Tall Ships event here this July (it's awesome to see all the big sailing ships in the Aura river!), but they canceled it due to the virus...

Thanks for the offer! We’re certainly heading to that area next year, as I have family in Naantali

This year we can only start in mid-August due to then being fully vaccinated (as well as hopefully having completed the refit by then), so I think we’ll stick the the southern end of the Baltic. Rønne, and maybe Visby are certainly on the list!

In Estonia much more interesting will be Saaremaa maybe. In Tallinn there is not a problem to find a place without a prebooking but not in this year August because the championship

I loved the small harour of Pavilosta in Latvia. Entering is only save with reasonable weather.

Karlskrona, of course. If you are interested in maritime history. World Heritage site.

Visby, especially when the roses are in bloom. Actually beautiful anytime.

Gryts and St Annas archipelagoes, not as crowded as Stockholm.

The Danish southern Islands, Bornholm, Swedish archipelago (both eastern and western) Rugen and Hiddensee.

All three baltic states are worth a visit. Really almost anywhere - The Baltic is a sailng paradise and virtually everywhere you go you will be happy you have gone

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"
