Hi Friends,
Planning a
passage from the
Bahamas to the
Marquesas.
PLan is to leave southern
Bahamas (long Island) in mid April
sail south, nonstop through the Windward
passage then south southwest
to the San Blas for a few days then over to Colon for a trip through
the
Canal. We then plan to leave mid May for a nonstop passage to the
Marquesas. Cornell's book says we should expect East/Southeast winds
this time of year to
Panama.
On the Pacific passage winds also steady East/ South East
with a west setting
current.
Cornell says May is Primo time to go.
Most likley stay in FP for a year or so
As an aside, are the Tuamotus which are the aprx same longitude
as the Marquesas in the Cyclone region?
Just a quick check on my reading of all the various resources.
All comments,
advice and local knowledge would be appreciated.
Experienced sailors, Well kitted and prepared
Catamaran
with Oxley Downwind sail
just no experience in the Pacific
Cheers
