Anyone sailing to Annapolis for boat show?

The Annapolis sail boat show is fast approaching and I'm wondering if anyone plans to sail there and stay for a night or two. I'll be sailing in Friday afternoon and staying until Sunday. Would be fun to meet up with some fellow CFers over a drink or 2 or 3.

Of course, the invitation is also open to anyone driving to Annapolis for the show. But then where's the fun in that?!

If you anchor in Back Creek I'll probably be able to see you from my slip, which is on the outside of my dock right across the creek from the kayak racks at the two taller apartment buildings. I'm heading south the day after the boat show closes, most likely. BTW on my dock is probably the best kept S2 7.3 you've ever seen. It looks brand new and the family slaves over keeping it that way.

The DH wants to go.... Last year we drove up and stayed at a hotel. How crowded does it get with boats....are there places to anchor out? Can you reach the show by dingy? It seems to me that even on Thursdays now the place is packed!

I'm going to the show, but I'll probably just walk. I volunteered to man the SSCA booth for a shift on Saturday morning. I have some shopping to do but I'm up for a drink.

We keep our vega in a slip at watergate village on back creek. We will be n town for the sailboat show and always up for company. We would love a tour of the Academy as well. Have a great day all.

OK, let's plan on an Academy tour Sunday afternoon for any who are interested. We can meet at 1:00 on the plaza outside the Visitors entrance at Gate 1. For those not familiar, this is adjacent to the boat show area and an easy walk. Bring photo ID and wear walking shoes. If anyone has a CF burgee that would make it easier for all of us to find each other. If you can't find it, you can call me on my cell at 443.534.1907. If you send me a PM in advance I can get an idea of the size of the group so we'll know when we're all there.

By the way, we keep our IP35 on Mill Creek. There are several nice spots to anchor there, but it's out of dinghy range for the boat show.

Although there are anchorages nearby (just off Eastport), I'm planning to tie up at Annapolis City Marina. Don't own a dink and prefer not to be at the mercy of the water taxis. Yes, you can get to the show by dinghy.

Re: Anyone sailing to Annapolis for boat show?

I plan on sailing out of Beaufort, NC Oct. 01 to go to the show. I'll be anchoring in Back Creek.
Sea Monkey, I would love to see the USNA. My oldest brother went there and I remember it from when I was a little kid.

I'll see you at 1:00 pm on Sunday, then. I don't have a CF burgee, so look for the SSCA burgee. Oh, and please thank your brother for his service.

Re: Anyone sailing to Annapolis for boat show?

We are excited about the tour. My wife and I will be in the plaza on Sunday at one (Matt and Kristin). Thanks ahead of time. CarolinaKieth, we are in a slip on back creek and have access to a car if you need to make a run for anything.

Re: Anyone sailing to Annapolis for boat show?

Thanks SeaMonkey. My brother graduated in 1980 and is now flying 777's out of Hong Kong, but I will let him know. I'll look for you a week from Sunday.
Subquanta, I owned an Albin Vega for many years myself. Great boat as you know.
I do not have a burgee either, but I will be flying this flag....

Re: Anyone sailing to Annapolis for boat show?

Well, I will not be making it up for the show.... Life on a cruising boat. I will be bumming around the Albemarle Sound for a couple of weeks biding my time till I head south.
I really do appreciate the offers of hospitality and hope to get the tour of the USNA next year. Keith

For those coming to the USNA tour (Sunday 10/13 at 1:00 at Gate 1), we will have a chance to tour a Navy 44 Mk II.
