Talking Anyone Know People Selling?

The time is finally here!

We are looking to purchase either a Morgan OI 41ft (1978 and newer), or a large steel vessel of similar accomodation for $60-$70K on the East Coast of the US.

Do any of the kind folks on here know of friends or people who would like to sell their boat without a broker?

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Plus, as a bonus, I'm sure I'll have all kinds of great new threads to start regarding maintenance..... ha ha

Thumbs up

You may already use this website, but I go to Traderonline.com This has been very helpful for me in finding boats in my price range & location.

Cool Morgan for sale

Sean,
I have friends here in Ft. Lauderdale with a Morgan that they want to sell. Once I find out the size and price, I will let you know.

Morgan for sale

Sean,

As promised, I checked with my friends in Ft. Lauderdale. They have a 1980 Morgan O/I 51' that has been on the hard for 2 years. The asking price is $100,000 as is (apparently the generator does not work).
If interested, call (305) 893-1366 and ask for either Solveiga or Janis.

Thank you very much!

Thanks, everyone. I appreciate your thinking of some boat you might know.

The $100K is outside our budget, but thank you! I will email the other......

Thank you!

Shopping for a deal

Sean, Coming in a little late for advice, but I've just closed on a boat, an Alberg, after looking at three others in pretty rough shape (you know the places!). I flew to Michigan, the Cheasapeake, blah, blah, but finally found the Alberg in the condition I wanted and went to contract. All boats I found either on Goodoldboat.com or boats.com. Also, because offshore is my purpose, I didn't go cheap on the survey, but spent extra money for an excellent surveyor and on the survey to get his recommendations on offshore upgrades beamed specificallly at the boat's weak points. (As you know, all boats have them.) Being an owner/operator for 12 years and having owned three boats, I wanted advance, in-depth knowledge about something I knew nothing about: how a boat works in a heavy seaway. Jack, on this site, (the other Jack) his comments were really helpful in understanding the need for strength at key points. Good luck,
Jack
