Hartoft has been around a long time as has Uhtoff mentioned above. Also Fred Hecklinger is probably the "dean" of surveyors and he is very detailed and thorough. Also Bob Turner and Rob Noyce are highly experienced. I've met or known or have used them at one time or another. Check with your
broker. For a very reasonable fee I can give you a verbal general evaluation of the overall condition and whether there are any "major deal killers" or any "red flags". I've done this for many clients and it can save them lots of
money and headache. Though not certified as a surveyor, my decades of
experience in most aspects of recreational
boating provide me with the overall knowledge and ability to provide such a
service which will cost substantially less than a surveyor. While I highly recommend a full survey before proceeding to
purchase, keep in mind that on every boat I have come aboard that had a survey--something was overlooked--sometimes major flaws. Island Packets in general are exceptionally well built but they can be difficult to thoroughly inspect because of lack of access to key areas. A surveyor may not tell you if it is the right boat for you. They generally do only a cursory
inspection of engine,
sails and
rigging. You can lean more at FOERFRONT dot COM Thanks!!!
